Assistant of Rodin and Pompon, Diligent worked in the studio of Pompon in Montparnasse and realized a famous bust of Camille Claudel. In 1921, he went to live in Nevers and participated to the Groupe d’émulation artistique du Nivernais from 1936 to 1956 with a lot of artists such as Guyot and André Lhote. Diligent's most known artworks are animal sculptures, however he also realized the portrait of Mirabeau in Montargis, the athlete in Pithiviers, the frontispiece of the people house in Nevers. In Paris, he exhibited at the gallery Contencin in 1943, at the Salon d’Automne and at the Société des Artistes Indépendants.
