Comte Georges de FERRIERES

(1837 - 1907)

The count Georges de Ferrières dedicated himself to the creation of sculptures with animal subjects, which he exposed at the fair from 1865 to 1893. The sculptures he prefered the most were horses and dogs, he managed to depict them with peculiar realism : Chien lévrier (1865), Cheval et chien (1868), Chien d’arrêt (1874), Chien ratier (1877), Retour de chasse (1878), Cheval et son jockey (1879), Cheval au dressage (1881), Cheval et jockey (1882), Chevaux de poste (1892), Chien lévrier, Deux chiens de chasse et faisan (1883), L’heure de l’avoine, Chevaux de poste. Due to his reputation as an engraver, it is possible to find the sign M which stands for Mangenot on the bronzes of Agathon Léonard (1841- 1923).
