Comte Geoffroy de RUILLE
(Angers, 1842 - 1922)
Comte Geoffroy de Ruillé exhibited his works of art at the Salon between 1884 and 1921. In addition to being a good sculptor, he was also a good rider as the painting of his friend René Princeteau (1849-1914) shows. It was exhibited at the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum in Albi and named Le Comte Geoffroy de Ruillé chasing with his sons, depicted at full gallop in front of the de Gallerande castle, family residence.
The sculptures he presented at the Salon were exclusively equestrian and were subject of a very limited edition, therefore they are very rare on the market. His sculptures show the talent of this artist for the representation of equestrian subjects in action and that may remind those of his contemporary aristocrat, Comte Arthur du Passage.
