Maximilien Louis FIOT

(1886 - Corbeil, 1953)

The life of Maximilian Fiot is not well known, except the fact that he studied sculpture with Prosper Lecourtier and began his career as an animal sculptor. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he won the third medal in 1911 and the second medal in 1913. Fiot realized birds, horses, dogs and many felines. He was a naturalist sculptor contemporary of Pompon and as such he did not stylize his models but represented them in peaceful attitudes of everyday life.
